Digging Deeper into Lk 7:36-50 by Pastor Jeff
Here are just a few ways to dig deeper into today’s sermon passage.
1. Lk 7:36-50 has many similarities with Mt 26:6-13; Mk 14:3-9 & Jn 12:1-8. However there are enough differences as to make this a separate incident. 2. Our text is one of many in Luke that deal with the topic of “festive meals”. See also Lk 13:29, 14:15, 22:16-18 to name only a few. Also note the OT background that sees history heading toward a great banquet – Is 25 & 55 are 2 such examples. See also Rev 19:6-10 as well as Jesus many meals with people in all 4 gospels.
